User can’t find how to set filters in Decile Hub; asks for guidance.
Hey! Great question, and totally understandable to find this tricky at first.
Unfortunately, based on the information I have available, I'm not able to give you a confident step-by-step answer on exactly where the filter controls are for your specific use case in Hub. I wouldn't want to point you in the wrong direction!
A couple of suggestions:
- Post here with your screenshot (it looks like it may not have come through) so the team and community can see exactly where you are in the interface
- Tag @Woody Butler directly in this channel, as he's been very responsive to navigation questions like this
The Decile Hub team is great at jumping in quickly on these, so you should get a clear answer soon!
When an AI-generated set goes off the rails, it's up to you to bring it back into a useful exercise that makes sense for you and your learning objectives. Take it as a chance to explore Hub's features for filtering dealflow, and find the settings that make sense for you.
I did spend quite a bit of time, including getting help from someone in the Cohort who also looked, trying to figure out how to set up the filters and use them. She was also confused and couldn't understand how to filter deals. It wasn't immediately obvious to either of us that I needed to have prospects in my pipeline. It also wasn't obvious that I could not create my own filters, as the question asked. So I answered the question with what I would've done if I could've, hoping to circle back and fix the answer once I knew how to use the system.
So are you saying there is no way to customize filters?
Filters exist in Hub. Let me walk you through a few.
The simplest ones are column headers that can be manipulated to show only certain variables. For example only show deals with XYZ rating, or in XYZ industry. For some of the filter settings you mentioned (geography, stage, category i.e. tags, and round info) this would have sufficed. Also, when you have a certain set of pipeline filters enabled, you can click the "eye" icon (when in pipeline view) -- Toggle Pipeline Views Visibility. You can create multiple filter sets using these filters enabled by clicking New View with certain filters enabled. This locks in the filters you've selected, so you can quickly apply a set of filters. (Pro tip! It also locks in column visibility. So, different views can also show or hide various columns - useful for quickly flipping through different sets of information i.e. stuff you'd need at a filter stage, stuff you'd need at diligence.)
Another filter: Hub will filter incoming deals that use the ingestion pipeline. If you want to test this, try using the ingestion e-mail to get (sample) deals into Hub. Try it with one that matches the thesis you've put into Hub (Settings -> Firm details) very well, and try it with one that doesn't match the thesis at all. They'll be rated by the AI based on their alignment with your fund's thesis. This auto-filtering probably comes closest to the filters you were looking for, but it's for one specific feature and not customizeable (beyond customizing yoru thesis).
You can also use Dex as a filter. For example, telling Dex to scan all the deals currently in your pipeline and move anything that's not a strong thesis fit to a "decline" stage, move anything that's a strong thesis fit to a "diligence" stage, and for anything on the fence, tell you about it so you can make the call. That's another way to play with filtering tools.
