I wrote an automated process to drop people from private channels based on if they are marked as "Dropped Out" in the FI system.

It would affect users in LP Institute, Venture Institute, and VC Lab Cohorts that started after June 1, 2024.

I just did a dry run to see who it would remove from which channels before I put this code out into the world to run every day. These are the results, with user name and channels that they'd be removed from if I were to run this for real. Can someone please give it a look and see what adjustments, if any, I need to make? If someone wants to hop on a call with me and discuss as well, we can certainly do that.

All of them were dropped from Cohort 15, but a number of them have re-joined in Cohort 16. 
❓Is there a way to account for repeat founders?

NVM, found Alex Kashkărov in the Cohort 16 channel so I can use him as a test. Will update when I have refined.

OK I have a (longer) list now from a modified query that filters out people from newer cohorts. If I don't look at newer cohorts, the list is longer than this one, so I guess a bunch of people have dropped out of cohort 15 in the past week? Anyway, I didn't see any overlap between people in here and in the Cohort 16 channel, but I'm not 100% sure I checked correctly.

, apologies for the delay in response, last week was particularly busy.
I've cross-checked the above list with our records here and almost all of the people on the list were dropped from Cohort 15 and should be removed from all channels.
The only person on the list who has re-enrolled in Cohort 16 is Ryan Martin who should only be removed from the Cohort 15 but not the VC Lab related channels.
Additionally I found some placeholders here - hot sure what those are.
But overall, this feature seems good to go? 🤞

So we understand correctly how this works; once we drop someone in FI, they will automatically be removed from the Base channels they are part of at 4 PM GMT, not right away?

That's correct. We get a daily dump of data from the FI system once a day, every day. An hour or two after we get that data, this job will run and remove anyone who hasn't already been removed from the cohort channel, based on their most recent cohort.
It shouldn't re-drop people if they've been dropped already, ie: If someone gets auto-dropped by this daily task, but then for whatever reason they are manually re-added to the channel, it should not try to drop them from that channel again.

Furthermore, it will ONLY drop people from the channels that are associated with the program they are in, so if they are in other private channels outside of the cohort channels, they'd need to be manually removed from those.

Slight clarification: it should remove them from channels associated with that program specifically. Ie it won't remove them from random private channels they may have been added to

Ok, so if we drop someone from LP Institute Cohort 3 in FI Teams, they will be removed from the private The LP Institute parent channel and associated Introductions, Dealflow, Discussion and Lounge private sub-channels, but not from the private second-order working group sub-channels, e.g. Blue, Purple, Green and Orange (as for example in LP Institute 2)?

They'll be dropped from those as well. I'm saying if they're in any private channels that are not under the cohort channel, they won't be removed from those. Eg if they were in this channel, they wouldn't be removed from it.

It looks like users were manually added to the cohort 16 channel instead of adding the product program for Cohort 16 as a member, which means that the automated process won't work. As I said in an earlier message:

"it will ONLY drop people from the channels that are associated with the program they are in"

The product program needed to be the member, and users who signed up with the invite code associated with that program would be automatically added to the channel.

I checked the Client Products in the Hub accounts of the first couple of dropouts on the list and found that almost all of them have the VC LAB ACCELERATOR product and 16 as the Cohort. Is that unrelated?

To clarify; the automated removal will only work for participants who had signed up with a specific invite code that was related to the program? If they signed up without or a different code, it won't work (regardless if they were added manually or have the relevant Client Product in their Hub accounts)?

Correct, and that program would have needed to be added as a member of the channel instead of manually adding the users. That is how we know which private channels are specific to the cohort.
