Are due diligence questionnaire and private placement memorandum required documents in order to attract serious / institutional LPs?

No, they are not required. Also, it's absolutely critical that new and emerging managers do not engage with any vendors including lawyers until they have a minimum of 10%+ of their fund hard circled in PACTs. Finally, institutional LPs rarely invest in new or emerging managers.
